Why Wordpress

Entry posted on May 12, 2009.

Okay, so I'm a Django developer. I spend all my time working on Django. Like 90% (or more) of web developers out there I've written my own blog engine. Several times. Why am I not building another Django blog to power my personal site?

It's just not worth it.

Wordpress is easy and fast to install, I was able to put somebody else's theme on it to make it suck less, I can self-host my OpenID (thanks Will!), and most importantly, I can do all this in a matter of minutes so I can get back to working on Django.

One day, there will be an awesome Django blogging engine that does everything I want and has a great community around it providing blah blah blah. I'll switch then.

UPDATE: I switched. I got tired of Wordpress being constantly too in-my-face. Yay for minimalism.
